There’s an interesting mix of releases in this week’s album news. Ash Grunwald has teamed up with two-thirds of The Living End, The Almost have signed to Shock and are releases a new album, even the monks supporting the Dalai Lama are releasing an album. There’s heaps of fascinating news, have a read!

EMILY BARKER & THE RED CLAY HALO

Western Australian turned UK singer/songwriter Emily Barker and her band The Red Clay Halo have announced news of their upcoming fourth album! July 8th will see Dear River released via Linn Records.

ASH GRUNWALD

Ash Grunwald has teamed up with Scott Owen and Andy Strachan from The Living End, and created a little masterpiece titled Gargantua. The record consists of two brand new original tracks, two cover songs from opposite ends of the earth, and several re-workings of some of Grunwald’s biggest tracks. They’re doing a national tour in support of the album, this June and July!

WOODSTOCK MAFIA

Woodstock Mafia have announced they’ll be releasing their debut album this September! They’re yet to spill details on a name, but the leading single which is out next month, is titled “Trigger And Gun”.

VANS WARPED TOUR 2013

Each year the Vans Warped Tour release a compilation album comprising a collection of the best tracks from a tonne of the artists appearing on the punk/hardcore styled line up. The official soundtrack to the 2013 Vans Warped Tour has 2 CD’s featuring 50 tracks, and is due out on June 7th via SideOne Dummy Records via Shock Records.

WASHED OUT

Ernest Greene aka Washed Out is set to release his sophomore LP on August 9th. Paracosm explores the concept of it’s namesake, attempting to understand the ins and outs of the creation of imaginary worlds. Fantasy lands like Tolkein’s Middle Earth and C.S. Lewis’ Narnia come to mind, as this album promises to get you through winter. Watch the trailer below.

TONY MCMANUS

Celtic Guitarist Tony McManus has announced the release of his upcoming album Mysterious Boundaries. The steel-string fingerstyle virtuoso takes on classical repertoire in the June 25th release.

THE ALMOST

Exciting times for Florida’s The Almost as they announce they’ve singed to Shock Records and with it are set to release a new album! The group’s third album Fear Inside Our Bones is a follow up from 2009’s Monster, Monster, and is due out on June 14th. Check out the video for leading single “I’m Down”.

THRIFTSTORE MASTERPIECE

Thriftstore Masterpiece spend their time paying homage to underdog records from the past. They’re set to release their debut offering, a revisit of Lee Hazlewood’s 1963 classic Trouble Is A Lonesome Town. The album, of the same name, is due out on July 12th.

VOLCANO CHOIR

Six-piece ensemble Volcano Choir are set to release their sophomore LP on August 30th. Repave is the follow up to the outfit’s 2009 debut Unmap, and will be released via Jagjaguwar via Inertia. Check out the official album trailer which includes some exclusive recording footage.

THE GYUTO MONKS OF TIBET

Yep, you read that right. The Gyuto Monks Of Tibet, who have a close involvement with his holiness the Dalai Lama, are releasing an album. Chants is set for release on June 13th in support of the Dalai Lama’s ‘Echoes of Enlightenment’ Australian tour this June. The collection of tracks that intend to bring about peace, calmness and tranquility were recorded in the Gyuto Monastery in Dharamsala, India.
